I graduated in Electric Engineering in 1991 and received my Master (1994) degrees in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS. My Doctorate (2000) was in Robotic from Laboratoire d'Analyse et d'Architecture de Systèmes - LAAS/CNRS, France. he title of my PHD Thesis was "An Archtecture for Multi-robot Cooperation". My advisor was Dr. Rachid Alami. In August 1992 I joined the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande, FURG, where nowadays I am also acting as Center of Computational Science - C3 Vice-director.
Currently, I am a CNPQ “Productivity in Tecnological Development” Fellow, with research and teaching activities at the Graduate Programmes, namely Programa de Pós-Graduação em Modelagem Computacional and Programa de Pós-Graduação em Computação and Pós-graduação em Educação em Ciências. I supervise Master's and Doctor's students.
